Jonathan Evans (Jonno) is the Provisional Treasurer of Acrux Shriners, overseeing the Temple’s finances and international obligations with Shriners International as Acrux works towards full charter status. Known for his dedication to Acrux, Jonathan has also lent his creative skills to designing several of the Temple’s distinctive symbols, including the Acrux logo, altar cloth, and banner, which have become recognizable emblems of the organisation.
Jonathan’s Masonic journey began in 2007 with Gordon Lodge No.99 under the United Grand Lodge of Victoria. In 2011, a serious workplace injury led to a permanent disability and early retirement. To stay engaged and keep his mind active, Jonathan has taken on a variety of administrative roles, serving as Treasurer for the Essendon Masonic Centre and several other lodges, and as Secretary/Recorder of the Melbourne Shrine Club.
Active in multiple Masonic orders, including Royal Arch Masonry, Mark Masonry, the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite (Scottish Constitution), the Knights Templar, and others, Jonathan was recognized as “Companion of the Year” in 2024 within Royal Arch Masonry for his dedicated service. His roles in both Acrux Shriners and his other Masonic affiliations reflect his steady commitment to the fraternity, bringing both a creative and administrative touch to each position he holds.
